Merling tears his Achilles tendon

PhillipMerling 300x204 Merling tears his Achilles tendonPhillip Merling has not rewarded the Miami Dolphins for making him the first pick in the second round of the 2008 Draft. He was taken 32nd-overall (Patriots had their first rounder taken from them for spying) and has delivered a whopping 3.5 sacks since then.

And this offseason hasn’t produced much better results. He’s already allegedly committed felony assault by striking his pregnant girlfriend. Now, a league source tells ProFootballTalk.com that Merling has injured his Achilles tendon.

And the source isn’t exactly sure how it happened. It could have happened while working out and preparing for the 2010 season. But, it also could be non-football related.

If it’s the latter, then Merling is in trouble. The Dolphins could owe him none of his $600,000 salary for the year.

While we don’t know the extent of the injury, Achilles problems tend to be the “done for the year” variety. But of course we’re just speculating.

  9. I need to say, as much as I loved reading what you had to convey, I couldnt help but lose interest after a while. Its as if you had a good grasp on the subject matter, but you didn’t remember to include your readers. Maybe you should take into consideration this from more than one direction. Or probably you shouldn’t generalise so very much. Its better if you consider what other people may have to express as opposed to just going for a gut reaction on the issue. Consider modifying your own thought process and giving other people who might read this the benefit of the doubt.

  11. What I would like to know is why must I care? I mean, not to say that what you have got to convey is not significant, but I mean, its so universal. Everyone’s discussing this dude. Give us something extra, some thing that we can get behind so we can feel as zealous about it as you do.
