John Maine done for the year following surgery
According to New York Daily News beat writer Andy Martino, Mets pitcher John Maine recently underwent surgery to clean up his throwing shoulder. Of course, that means he’s now done for the year.
“John Maine had arthroscopic surgery yesterday to clean scar tissue in his right shoulder. Out for season,” Martino writes.
This also probably means that he’s done with the Mets. Several years ago, Maine showed that he could be a really effective pitcher. Then, the injuries hit. He’s been battling injuries and general stinkitude the last couple years.
This year, he publicly got upset with the team for yanking him from a start. He claimed he was fine. Looks like the Mets were right.
