Lee won’t waive no-trade clause?
The Chicago Cubs are 10 games back in the NL Central and it’s probably safe to say that they won’t be making the playoffs. And it’s not too tough to imagine that they’d prefer to get something for 34-year old Derrek Lee before he leaves via free agency at the end of the year.
But, a source tells ESPN‘s Jayson Stark that it’s not likely that he would waive his no-trade clause.
“A source who has known Derrek Lee for years says it’s “highly doubtful” he’d waive full no-trade to OK any deal at this stage. #cubs #trades,” Stark tweets.
We aren’t sure what he’d fetch in trade at this point anyway. He’s hitting .251 with 11 HR’s, far off from what he usually does. And his contract runs out after this year so you’d only be renting him if you traded for him.
Found your website and decided to have a quick browse, not what a typically do but good 1. Nice to see a blog for a change that isn’t stuffed with spam and garbage, and really makes some sense. Anyways, good write up.
