Clausen signs with Panthers
Former Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen has signed a four-year deal with the Carolina Panthers today, according to ESPN‘s Adam Schefter. A league source tells PFT that his bonus is $2.533 million and the fourth year of his deal has an escalator of $2.85 million in 2013.
This is probably a very different contract than Clausen thought he’d be getting just four months ago. Many draftniks had him going No. 4-overall to the Washington Redskins. Yeah….um…that didn’t happen. Clausen slipped to the second round.
Clausen is expected to compete with incumbent Matt Moore, who played well down the stretch last year. All things being equal, they’ll probably start the year with Moore and then have Clausen ready if he falters.
Expect only good things from this kid.
