Youkilis has a muscle tear in his thumb
The Boston Red Sox got Mike Lowell back today as he was activated from the DL. The bad news is that the team had to place Kevin Youkilis on the DL with what is being reported as a muscle tear at the base of his thumb.
“Youk’s injury is a muscle tear of the muscle that helps contract the thumb. Relatively rare injury. #redsox,” tweets Amalie Benjamin of Boston.com.
The team was worried that the injury would just get worse if he played through it, thinking that it might eventually tear away from the bone. The Sox will seek a second opinion and, according to Benjamin, doctors are “searching for answers.”
“If he did some damage and pulled that muscle off the bone, then you’re looking at a surgery that’s very difficult,” said manager Terry Francona.
If Youkilis doesn’t respond to rest, they are saying that surgery is a very real possibility. That’s a huge blow to the Red Sox.

Hey there I just wanted to let you know, I really like the written content on your site. But I’m utilising Chromium on a unit operating version 9.04 of Ubuntu and the look and feel aren’t rather enjoyable.
