Eagles fan asked to remove McNabb jersey, but that’s not the whole story
Word is surfacing from multiple media outlets that the Philadelphia Eagles today asked a fan to remove his #5 Donovan McNabb Washington Redskins jersey. And it’s true, that did happen.
But all the reactions on Facebook and Twitter calling the Eagles classless and – essentially – Nazi’s are inaccurate. Yes, the team asked him to remove it, but what isn’t being widely reported is that the Eagles have a policy in place that states that if you are a credentialed guest, you may not wear the jersey of another team on the sidelines.
For OTR, if we see five weirdos dressed in togas stabbing a guy in broad daylight, we shoot the bastards, that’s our policy. But, we digress.
So, it’s not like an Eagles official sought this fan out up in the stands and told him to get lost. This person got a special pass to stand with the media and other privileged people. What made that person think that wearing a Redskins jersey would be appropriate?
Personally? We don’t care what jersey you wear. But show a wee bit of respect if you are a credentialed guest. Based on the policy, you wouldn’t be allowed to wear a Channing Crowder Miami Dolphins jersey either.
And for what it’s worth, the fan had no problem removing the jersey.
What's Andy going to do on game day when there are a LOT more people wearing McNabb Redskin jerseys? Boo-hoo Andy.
