Mets to pick up Reyes’ $11 million club option next year?
A person familiar with the thinking of the New York Mets told the Post that the team is very likely to pick up the $11 million club option for SS Jose Reyes next year. In case you weren’t aware, the Mets have an $11 million club option for Reyes next year.
The team is probably looking to get a long-term deal done with Reyes, but the shortstop admitted that he isn’t worried about that right now.
“Right now I don’t think about that,” he said.
Reyes has bounced back from an injury-marred 2009 season and is hitting .279 with eight home runs. He hasn’t been great and probably isn’t worth $11 million per year, but it’s better than their other options.
If he stays healthy, he still has a lot of upside. But him staying off the DL is a big if.
This is Awesome! Thank you so much.
