Nuggets willing to deal Anthony
We mentioned the other day that Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony is still contemplating signing the three-year, $65 million extension that’s on the table. But, word has emerged that he has no intentions of re-signing with Denver and that he wants to test the free agent market after this season.
Well, the Nuggets aren’t stupid. It’s either trade him now and get something for him, or watch him walk a la LeBron James and get nothing for him. And a league source tells the Denver Post that that is exactly what the Nuggets are working on doing.
Anthony has a 28-point scoring average through seven NBA seasons, so he shouldn’t be too difficult to deal. However, any team that is going to give the Nuggets value will have to know that they can reach an agreement on a deal beyond this year.
We’re thinking the New York Knicks will be involved. They cleared all that cap space to get LeBron James and/or Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, and they came up with a nice consolation prize in Amare Stoudemire. They still have the free money and still need to fill Madison Square Garden.
I’m sick of Wade haters out there, never giving anyone props, no matter how tight they are.
