Jim Furyk disqualified for being late
PGA linebacker Jim Furyk was disqualified from The Barclays on Wednesday for missing his pro-am tee time which was scheduled for 7:30 in the morning.
Furyk tweets, “My goddam cellphone.”
The golfer with a funky swing overslept due to his cell phone running out of power. Furyk uses his cellphone as an alarm. It’s also possible that Elin Nordegren turned off his cellphone before they went to bed, but no such claims have been made.

In 2004, the PGA Tour instituted a rule that if a player misses his pro-am time, for reasons other than an injury or family emergency, then that player will be disqualified from that week’s tournament.
Furyk arrived at the course at 7:35 am with no belt or socks on. It’s possible Elin didn’t lay everything out for him the night before, but no such claims have been made.
