Aroldis Chapman hits 105 mph on the gun
We aren’t sure that we’ve even heard stories of pitchers throwing 105-mph fastballs, yet alone have one actually ring one up on the radar gun. But that’s what happened Friday night to Cincinnati Reds prospect Aroldis Chapman.
Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse reports that Chapman was throwing absolute lasers for the Reds’ AAA Louisville team.
“Aroldis Chapman tonight hit 105 mph and “sat at” 103, with a 90-91 slider. Scout: “best fastball I have ever witnessed” #reds,” Price tweets.
That is f’ing insane. That’s some serious heat. If he can remotely disguise his pitches and mix a few in there, he’ll be just about unhittable. The Reds are expected to call him up to the majors when rosters expand on Wednesday. He’ll be thrown in the bullpen for back end help during the stretch run.
