Manny heading to Chicago
It looks like the Chicago White Sox won’t have to give up anything for Manny Ramirez after all. Baseball sources tell MLB.com that the Los Angeles Dodgers will let Manny go to Chicago with no compensation.
It was thought before that Manny would want a contract extension in exchange for waiving his no-trade clause (which also includes waiver claims). But, when Manny saw that he was essentially becoming a bench player in LA, he said screw it. He’ll have a better chance of landing another contract with a team if he’s a DH with the Chi Sox.
So, the White Sox will take Ramirez and his $4.3 million remaining salary off the Dodgers’ hands. Doubt the guy all you want, but he tends to knock the crap out of the ball when he has a fire lit under his ass. 38-years old or not, we have to think that Manny will be a positive for the White Sox.
