No more save situations for Broxton
After repeatedly disappointing the team in save situations, Los Angeles Dodgers “closer” Jonathan Broxton will no longer be used in that closer role, according to manager Joe Torre.
“I think we have to just put him in situations not in the ninth inning, I mean a save situation in the ninth inning,” Torre said. “And just try to get some appearances under his belt. Wherever we go, whether we’re going to get to the postseason or not, I think this is very important: that he finishes this season with a good taste in his mouth.”
Hong-Chih Kuo will be handling save duties and the Dodgers just have to hope that Broxton can fix whatever the problem is. His pitch speed is down about two mph this year and there could be an issue with him physically.
The issue with him pysically is that he's 100lbs overweight.
