Johnson to miss Wednesday’s start?

Florida Marlins pitcher and potential Cy Young candidate Josh Johnson is dealing with a sore back. Many have speculated that his season is over, but the Marlins aren’t quite ready to shut him down yet.

Johnson was scheduled to throw Saturday morning, but that didn’t happen. They want him to throw in the bullpen on Sunday, but if that doesn’t go well, Johnson will miss his Wednesday start. We’d have to think that if tomorrow doesn’t go well, he could be shut down for the season.

“His back is kind of too tight and he’s not feeling well,” manager Edwin Rodriguez said.

“We’re going day by day. Let’s see what happens tomorrow and after that we’ll decide what we’re going to do for Wednesday. And then after that, who knows what is going to happen.”

Someone should tell the Marlins that it really doesn’t matter. Johnson is a stud and we’d think his health is more important than him pitching. They are 10 games back in the division. It doesn’t matter.
