Bautista keeps it going
We aren’t sure what got into Toronto Blue Jays RF Jose Bautista this year, but his 2010 season has a lot of people thinking back to Brady Anderson in 1995. Bautista has never hit more than 16 HR’s in a season. But this year?
He’s got 52.
Last night, Bautista went 2-for-2 with three RBI’s and two more bombs. This guy will just not quit.
He’s making a very strong case for AL MVP in a year where Josh Hamilton (.361 average) and Miguel Cabrera (36 HR’s, 122 RBI’s, .329 average) are playing extremely well. Bautista is only four RBI’s behind Miggy and if he catches him, that might be game, set, match in the MVP race.
We don’t love Bautista’s .268 batting average, but 52 bombs is pretty tough to ignore. We aren’t sure what got into him this year, but hopefully it wasn’t something that was performance enhancing. We aren’t accusing Jose of any wrong doing, but – and this is a shame to say – these days everyone is a suspect.
