LeBron says race was a factor in “The Decision”
New Miami Heat superstar LeBron James and Maverick Carter were interviewed recently on CNN about their relationship and their business, among other things. Soledad O’Brien brought up the whole “The Decision” fiasco and introduced race in the discussion.
She asked them if they thought race played a factor in all of the negative press that they received for hosting such an event.
“I think so at times,” James said. “It’s always, you know, a race factor.”
He didn’t explain how, but we’d love to know where race came into play.
Carter then added, “It definitely played a role in some of the stuff coming out of the media, things that were written for sure.”
Neither went into examples of how race was involved, but they did say they were very disappointed that the $3 million they raised for Boys & Girls Club of America got lost in the shuffle. It did, and we agree that more people should have mentioned that.
But still, “The Decision” was a disaster. Why can’t they just admit it?
