Update on some injured fantasy running backs
Every year, big-time first round fantasy picks stumble for one reason or another. Whether they lose their job, stink of the joint or get hurt, it’s always something. This year is no different.
Here are some updates on some running backs who are annoying their fantasy owners.
-Denver Broncos RB Knowshon Moreno:
It’s not looking good for Moreno to play this week (hamstring). He didn’t practice Thursday and it’s likely that he won’t play. Keep an eye on this situation, but it’s not looking positive. Look for Laurence Maroney to start, with Correll Buckhalter chipping in.
-St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson:
Jackson didn’t practice again on Thursday, but the Rams are hoping that he returns to the field on Friday. He’s looking like a game-time decision with his strained groin muscle.
-Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis:
Mike Shanahan says that Portis will start on Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, but don’t get too excited yet. His role is being reduced and he could be pushed into more of a pass-catching role. Ryan Torain is the guy to grab for right now as he’s expected to start eating away at Portis’ touches.
-New Orleans Saints RB Pierre Thomas:
Thomas looks to be a game-time decision for this week’s game against Carolina. Rotoworld thinks that because the team didn’t bring DeShawn Wynn up off the practice squad there is a good chance that Thomas will play. Again, keep an eye on it.
