Manuel and Minaya not expected back in ’11

This isn’t shocking news for anyone who has followed the New York Mets over the last few years. But, Jon Heyman of SI.com is reporting that the Mets will not bring back manager Jerry Manuel and GM Omar Minaya back next year in their current roles.

“As assumed for weeks, gm omar minaya and manager jerry manuel will not return in those roles for #mets. story on si.com soon,” Heyman tweets.

It’s possible that the two could be cut loose as soon as Monday. But, apparently the organization isn’t in any hurry to replace them, nor have the requested permission to interview any potential replacement.

While the Mets failures can’t be placed entirely on these two, it has to be placed somewhere. Can’t fire the whole team, although most of Queens may wish they could.
