Thornton suspended for two games for hit on Perron (video)

JoeThornton 300x199 Thornton suspended for two games for hit on Perron (video)San Jose Sharks big man Joe Thornton gave Dave Perron of the St. Louis Blues quite a jolt Thursday night at the Scottrade Center. Just exiting the penalty box, he found Perron skating across the red line with the puck. So, Thornton decided he would pummel him.

He popped him with his shoulder and sent him right down to the ice. And apparently, the NHL didn’t appreciate it. They are suspending him for two games to let him know exactly how much they didn’t appreciate it.

It was a pretty nasty hit that really stirred things up, and you can see it here:

“I asked the guys who hit me actually, because I didn’t know who it was,” Perron said after the game. “Obviously, Joe’s not a dirty player.”

Ok, so no bad blood. Still, Thornton will be sitting out a few games. His agent and brother John Thornton says they haven’t decided whether to appeal the suspension.

UPDATE:
Thornton’s appeal was denied.
