Phillies re-sign Contreras for two years
The Philadelphia Phillies got a pretty decent season out of Jose Contreras this year. He was 6-4 with a 3.34 ERA, even if he didn’t always seem to know where the ball was going.
The Phillies have rewarded that nice season by re-signing him to a two-year, $5.5 million contract, with a club option for 2013.
We’d have a stronger opinion on this signing if we had any clue how old this guy really is. Is he coming up on 40? 50? Both? We have no idea.
We think this is probably a very good signing for 2011, but not so sure about 2012 and beyond.
