Greinke likely to be moved?
The Kansas City Royals don’t have to do anything right now regarding pitcher Zack Greinke. He’s scheduled to make $13.5 million in each of his next two seasons, so he’s theirs if they want him.
Apparently, they don’t. According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, many league executives really think that Greinke will get traded.
“Execs believe zack greinke probably will be traded (rangers 1 interested team), and if so, why not trade soria, too?,” Heyman tweets.
He’s right. Just unload them all if you are going to get rid of your ace. Maybe the Royals know something that others don’t. That his 2009 Cy Young Award was a blip on the radar and his 4.17 ERA last season was what they are likely to get from him moving forward.
And if that’s the case, go ahead and see about getting some prospects for him. We’d warn against a big market team making a move for him, though, because his psyche is fragile and he’d probably wilt under the scrutiny that comes with playing in a big city.
