Yankees offering three years, $45 million to Jeter?
New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is getting old. He’ll be 36-years old in June and he’s due a new contract. So, what do you offer an aging shortstop with limited range and a .270 batting average?
According to SI.com‘s Jon Heyman, the Yankees think it’s a bad idea to give him a four-year contract.
“#yankees about to make 3 year, $45 mil offer to jeter,” Heyman tweets.
Jeter reportedly wants 4+ years, but we can’t see anyone giving him that. Jeter would probably be very wise to take this. He could play until he’s 39 and pocket another load of cash.
