Mayo benched, Henry starting for Wolves
Just days after O.J. Mayo was benched for being late to a shootaround, it looks like his benching could be a little more permanent. A Twitter feed for the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports that Xavier Henry will now be the starting shooting guard, with Mayo coming in off the bench.
“Griz coach Lionel Hollins says Xavier Henry now the starting 2. OJ Mayo will come off bench,” they tweeted.
This is bad news for the third-overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. It’s not known right now if this was done for disciplinary reasons, or if it’s because he’s just not getting it done.
It’s entirely possible that Hollins is sick of watching Mayo out there averaging 13.6 PPG to go with a lovely 38.8 shooting percentage.
