NBA to buy New Orleans Hornets?

A source tells Sam Amick of AOL Fanhouse that the New Orleans Hornets are about to be sold…to the NBA. That’s right, according to Amick, the NBA is in the advanced stages of purchasing the Hornets, which they would own until a new owner can be found.

And while it’s not set in stone that the league will buy the franchise from George Shinn, the source said it looks like it’s “coming down soon.”

The source also said that the NBA already has tabbed several people within their offices who would run the franchise. We can’t imagine how that works, but we’ve seen leagues that own teams before, so someone must have figured it out.

We wonder what Chris Paul thinks of this and whether or not it will affect where he ends up.
