ChiSox sign Konerko to three-year deal
The Chicago White Sox have reached a deal with first baseman Paul Konerko today, two sources tell Bob Nightengale of USA Today. It’s a three-year deal worth a reported $37.5 million.
That’s not too bad for a guy who is almost 35-years old. He’ll get $12 million in 2011 and 2012, and $13.5 million in 2013.
Konerko was a monster last year. He hit 39 bombs to go with 111 RBI’s and a .312 batting average. Between him and Adam Dunn, the White Sox have the 1B/DH position hammered out.
Konerko almost went to the Diamondbacks a few days ago, the White Sox were still able to swoop in and keep him.
