McDermott Is Out
The chips are beginning to fall in Philadelphia. Defensive Coordinator, Sean McDermott has been let go by the team effectively kick starting some changes on the defensive side of the ball. In his defense… hmm… ok, it’s hard to associate any defense with McDermott.
Per Head Coach Andy Reid, McDermott was to return next season as DC; however, I’m assuming this means he was just kidding. It does bring up a few interesting thoughts regarding the Eagles intent behind the move. Secondary coach Dick Jauron has been interviewing with the Cleveland Browns for their vacant defensive coordinator position and it may have prompted the Eagles to act sooner rather than later.
If Jauron continues elsewhere, the job is will be wide open… and that could make things rather interesting. Do they continue with the 4-3 style and address the DC position accordingly or take a deeper look into what has been on the minds of many Philadelphian’s recently… the 3-4.
Just sayin’.
