Jewish hockey player suing the Ducks

JasonBailey 300x235 Jewish hockey player suing the Ducks On Tuesday, a Jewish hockey player sued the NHL’s Anaheim Mighty Ducks, claiming that a couple of the coaches of the team’s affiliates harassed him and made anti-Semitic remarks. Jason Bailey, 23, is seeking damages from the Mighty Ducks, the Bakersfield Condors and coaches Martin Raymond and Mark Pederson.

And you thought only blacks were discriminated against in hockey? You fucking racist.

“Sorry, we can’t comment,” said Alex Gilchrist, director of media and communications for the Ducks.

According to his complaint, Bailey was subjected to “a barrage of anti-Semitic, offensive and degrading verbal attacks regarding his Jewish faith” from Raymond, aka the head coach of the Condors. The coach, according to the Bailey’s complaint, would say, “they (referring to Jews) ‘only care about money and who’s who.’ ”

The coach (allegedly) also said that “he never wanted his son to be raised Jewish or to wear a yarmulke.”

Pederson was apparently no better. According to the suit, the assistant head coach said other offensive stuff including, “well, I don’t know if we can trust him with the money; he’s Jewish.”

OTR is confused. Wouldn’t that be the reason you could trust him with money?

Kidding aside, Bailey contends that he wasn’t given the opportunities “that were fully available to the hockey players who were not Jewish.” He complained a few years ago about this to Ducks GM David McNab, but was told the organization “found his complaints unbelievable.”

We’ll see what happens here, but if this is true, the Ducks have some ‘splainin’ to do. Did the organization really discriminate against him and treat him differently? Or is Bailey complaining because he’s not that good at hockey and needs to blame someone?

Only. Time. Will. Tell.
