DiPietro to miss 4-6 weeks after Johnson rocks his party (video)

A few years ago, the New York Islanders signed former Boston University Terrier Rick DiPietro to a ridiculous 15-year contract. Made of glass and pink cotton fibres, DiPietro might need to be with the team for the full 15 years just to accumulate an actual year or two of rink time.

According to the Islanders website, DiPietro will miss the next 4-6 weeks due to facial swelling and fractures. How did that happen? Slapshot catch him in the head? Did he bang his head on the goal pipes after giving up a softie?

Nope. He had his party rocked in a fight with Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Brent Johnson. This wasn’t so much a fight as it was a public mugging. One and done. DiPietro skates to the middle of the ice to fight him, but you can tell he wants no parts of it.
