Reported offer to Pujols not true?

Earlier today, SI’s Jon Heyman reported that the St. Louis Cardinals offered Albert Pujols an eight-year contract. While Heyman didn’t know the details, he believed that it was for less than $30 million per year (yeah um…..as it should be).

“#cardinals offer pujols 8-year deal. still very little hope for agreement by wednesday deadline. story up soon on si.com,” Heyman tweeted.

Now, sources close to Pujols tell Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports that that’s a raft of hamster dung.

“Source close to Pujols camp: Reports of a Cardinals offer today to Pujols is, “inaccurate, reckless and outrageous.”,” Brown tweets.

Wow, that’s quite a difference in reports. Regardless, it doesn’t seem like a deal will get done before Pujols’ self-imposed Wednesday deadline. He wants negotiations to stop when spring training starts, and that’s probably what will happen. Unless it doesn’t. In which case, it won’t.
