Charges won’t be dropped against Simon
We mentioned back in early January that Baltimore Orioles pitcher Alfredo Simon got himself into a bit of trouble in the Dominican Republic. No, nothing petty like stealing a candy bar or jaywalking. Simon is accused of killing a dude.
Simon and his lawyers have contended that he would be exonerated when all the facts came out in the murder of Michel Esteban Castillo Almonte, but that doesn’t look to be the case.
A source connected to the case tells Enrique Rojas of ESPNDeportes, that Simon agreed to a deal with the Castillo brothers. However, the prosecutor says that that wouldn’t affect his criminal case.
We’ll have to assume that this is what was really said because Rojas’ article is written ENTIRELY IN FUCKING SPANISH.
This is definitely not an easy case to follow. Who do you believe? If Simon really did come to a cash agreement with the Castillo brothers, and if it really won’t affect the criminal charges, isn’t he kind of screwed? He’ll be broke and in jail.
