Carpenter lifted with injury
Uh oh. The St. Louis Cardinals have already lost Adam Wainwright to Tommy John surgery, so they really can’t afford any more hits to the starting staff. Especially not Chris Carpenter.
And according to B.J. Rains, that’s what just happened. Carpenter just threw 32 pitches, called for a trainer and then walked off the mound in a spring training game.
“Chris Carpenter just walked off the field injured with the trainer. He is done for the day. Not good news for the Cardinals,” Rains tweets.
We’ll see what happens, but if he’s having arm issues, it’s going to be a very long year for the Cardinals. Stay tuned.
UPDATE: Looks like it’s a hamstring injury. “I don’t think its very bad,” Carpenter said. “Just strained a little bit.”
