Holliday out indefinitely after appendectomy
Matt Holliday got off to a nice start for the St. Louis Cardinals, homering Thursday in a 5-3 extra-inning loss to the San Diego Padres. But, after the game he felt some abdominal discomfort, which is the last thing the Cardinals needed.
Actually, the fact that he’ll undergo an appendectomy today and be out indefinitely is the last thing the Cardinals needed.
“We’ll make a determination. It could be something like six or seven days, it could be more,” GM John Mozeliak said. “We don’t know at this point. We certainly will know more later.”
Mozeliak just found out about Holliday’s condition this morning. Holliday didn’t feel well last night, but only saw doctors today after the pain persisted. Supposedly, they got to it before the organ ruptured.
“They got it early, which is good,” Mozeliak said.
