Morris says Bucs haven’t discussed cutting Talib
We mentioned a week or so ago that it seemed in all likelihood that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would be cutting CB Aqib Talib when the lockout was resolved. This stemmed from yet another off-the-field incident in which Talib allegedly fired a gun (along with his mother) at his sister’s boyfriend.
But head coach Raheem Morris refuted the idea that the team is prepared to cut Talib to JoeBucsFan.com.
“No. We have not talked about that,” Morris said, thinking that the average person would believe a word of it. “That has not taken place. We will, but that time has not come yet.”
So we are all to think that after Talib was linked to a shooting and subsequently turned him in, no one in the building down in Tampa even brought up the topic?
Raheem: “Hey, did you guys grab a newspaper this morning?”
Mark Dominik: “Yeah. You talking about Cheetah Lounge getting busted again? I know, it sucks. Slip the girl a fifty dollar bill and…”
Raheem: “No, Mark! No. That’s not what I was talking about.”
Mark: “Oh…”
Raheem: “Aqib is wanted by police in connection with a shooting.”
Mark: “Look, Raheem…..not now, ok? We aren’t talking about this now. Maybe several months from now, but not before the draft, ok?”
That sound like a logical discussion? So, while the team may not have made a decision on what they are going to do with Talib, the notion that they haven’t even discussed it is just stupid.
