No Helton, CarGo; Rockies playing with seven and still winning

ToddHelton 300x188 No Helton, CarGo; Rockies playing with seven and still winningThe Colorado Rockies learned tonight that they would be without the services of all-world first baseman Todd Helton against the Philadelphia Phillies Thursday night. He was scratched with a bad back that he tore up sliding into 2nd base Wednesday. And then, another stud, Carlos Gonzalez was lifted from tonight’s game due to a groin strain.

By OTR‘s math, that means that the Rockies are down to seven players. They are playing with just seven players and the Phillies still only have two hits as of this posting. While we aren’t watching the game, we can see that the Rockies are up by a score of 5-0 and they don’t even have a full team.

We can’t tell what the Rockies are doing without a first baseman. Does the 2b or pitcher cover first each time? How can the Phillies only have two hits when it’s so easy to make it to first when there is no one there to catch the ball?

And what about missing CarGo? You only have two outfielders out there and the Phillies still can’t get a hit? This lineup is more pathetic than we originally thought. What a disaster of an offense that they can only muster two hits against a seven-man team.

Maybe the Phillies really do have 99 Problems but a Pitch Ain’t One.
