Chipper to DL with meniscus tear
Anyone that watched last night’s Braves/Phillies game not only saw a great game, they also saw a hobbled Chipper Jones who can still hurt opposing teams. Even if he himself is hurting pretty badly. He went 2-for-4 with a run scored and seemed to be a problem for Phillies pitchers most of the night.
So, good news for Phillies fans, Chipper has decided to shut it down and get surgery to repair the torn meniscus in his knee. He’ll likely be out 3-4 weeks as he recovers.
Brooks Conrad will likely take over 3rd base duties over the weekend in the NL East showdown against the Phils. They will get Martin Prado back shortly after the All Star break (staph infection), so he’ll be able to handle 3rd base when he returns.
In the bigger context, does this mean the Braves could look to add a bat at the trade deadline?
