There is “a lot of concern” over Sizemore’s knee

The Cleveland Indians placed centerfielder Grady Sizemore on the DL today with a right knee issue. He has a bruised right knee and he says that it feels similar to how his left knee felt last year.

“There’s a lot of concern,” said Sizemore. “I just hope I don’t have to go through what I went through last year.”

What did he go through last year? Microfracture surgery. Yeah, that’s bad.

Sizemore originally injured the knee on May 10th.

“It’s similar,” said Sizemore, when asked about the similarities of this knee problem to the one from last year. “It’s hard to say whether it’s the same. It’s definitely a concern. It’s the same area. Similar symptoms. It does feel a lot like it. . .but I can’t say for sure.”

If for some reason he needs microfracture surgery on this knee too, he’ll be staring down the barrel of one-year, prove-it contracts when his deal is up. These are not good injuries.
