Ravens to release a few big names

The Baltimore Ravens aren’t wasting any time. With the NFL lockout essentially over, the Ravens have decided to do some house cleaning.

A couple writers on Twitter have said that the Ravens have informed Todd Heap, Kelly Gregg and Willis McGahee that they will be released.

We aren’t sure how much the Heap move will save them, but McGahee and Gregg combined will save about $9 million this year. McGahee isn’t a surprise because he’s aging and his production is dropping off. He was due way too much money anyway. According to Aaron Wilson on Twitter, it’s very possible that the Ravens want Gregg back at a lesser salary. He’s actually still productive.

As for Heap, he was always a nice player that just couldn’t stay healthy. The Ravens just need to move on.
