Umenyiora to hold out?
Osi Umenyiora isn’t happy. He says that the New York Giants said a while back that they’d get him a new contract and they haven’t come through on that. He wants more money and he was willing to go to court over it.
So, it’s not terribly shocking that WFAN in New York is reporting that the Osi is going to hold out of training camp. They cited sources on both sides (player and team) that said that was the case.
Look, Osi will be 30-years old in November and is coming off of off-season hip surgery. It’s possible that the Giants could try to trade him, but any interested team would have to give up a decent pick and then pay him what he wants. If I’m said interested team, I ain’t doing that.
So, I’m not sure what Osi holding out is going to accomplish. I just can’t see the Giants budging on his contract, despite his 11.5 sacks last year. Even if they thought they should toss him a few million, are they going to be more willing to do that if he’s holding out? I’m guessing no on that one.
Get in camp, Osi.
