Jerome Simpson’s house rocks the party

JeromeSimpson 300x209 Jerome Simpsons house rocks the partyPeople that smoke marijuana usually know a few basic rules about dealing with it. Don’t mention it specifically over the phone, don’t send it by mail, that sort of thing.

Well, apparently Cincinnati Bengals WR Jerome Simpson didn’t get the memo, because police confiscated a package that was sent to his house in Kentucky that contained 2.5 pounds of weed from California. That’s not a dimebag. And while it’s not Nate Newton territory, it’s a decent amount of bud.

“The house was set up as a potential distribution network,” Tommy LaNier, head of the National Marijuana Initiative, said.

Bengals tackle Anthony Collins was at the house at the time and a woman signed for it. Police found another six pounds of weed in the house as well as other paraphernalia such as “packaging materials, scales and smoking devices,” California Department of Justice spokeswoman Michelle Gregor said.

Simpson is in his fourth year with the Bengals, although he only started to participate last year. He was a waste of space for the first two years, and maybe now we know why. For the record, the Bengals took him ahead of DeSean Jackson in 2008. Just sayin’.

Simpson wasn’t at practice on Thursday for unknown reasons (sort of unknown…I mean…we have a clue) and the team is aware of this issue.

Stay tuned on this one. This isn’t a garden-variety DUI or a roach found in the SUV.
