Game 6 postponed until Thursday
Anyone remember 2008? It was almost the biggest PR disaster for MLB since they had to end an All-Star game in a tie. Rain in Game 5 lasted past the fifth inning of the game with the Philadelphia Phillies holding a lead over the Tampa Bay Rays. It was pouring, but what do you do? If you call the game, it’s an official game and the Phillies would be World Series champs…on a partial game?
That would have been some BS and people would have razzed Philadelphia fans for years, saying that you still didn’t win a real championship.
Well, MLB looks to have that in the back of their minds. Rather than risk Game 6 of the World Series with poor weather expected this evening, they have decided to just move the game to Thursday for the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers.
Better to do it now than to risk what was so close to happening back in 2008.
