We mentioned the other day that Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Aqib Talib was a “person of interest” in a Texas shooting a week ago. Talib allegedly fired gun shots at his sister’s boyfriend.

Now, he has surrendered to the cops after there was a warrant out for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Shannon Billings, Aqib’s sister’s Saran’s boyfriend, says that there was a domestic disturbance at their home and Aqib showed up with a 9mm handgun and tried to pistol whip him. The gun fell out of his hands and was jammed anyway after it struck a wooden fence. So, Okolo Talib, Aqib’s mother, arrives at the location and “jumped out of her car with a gun in her hand and eventually shot the gun at him.”

Wow. And we wonder why Aqib acts like such a dick all the time. That’s some example she’s setting.

Aqib was fingerprinted and released on $25,000 bail. Okolo turned herself in on Tuesday on charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Anyone else notice that last charge? Felon in Possesson of a Firearm? What did she do that she’s a convicted felon? Oh do tell.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Aqib Talib is as talented on the field as he is troubled off of it. There were red flag character concerns for him all the way back to the 2008 NFL draft.

And he seems to be at it again. The Garland, Texas Police Department consider him a “person of interest” in an investigation into a March 21 shooting. There was an altercation that included him, his sister, his mother, his sister’s boyfriend, two guns and five shots fired. Sounds like a recipe for success.

According to the initial police report, it seems that Talib tried to pistol whip his sister’s boyfriend, Shannon Billings, and then a struggled ensued (it’s odd that this occurred in March, this is usually par for the course at the Talib Family Thanksgiving.). As Billings tried to leave, Talib allegedly grabbed his mother’s pistol and fired several shots.

“The investigation is ongoing,” Garland Police Department administration supervisor Captain Patrick McCulley told the Dallas Observer. “But I can confirm that Mr. Talib is a person of interest in the case.”

Sounds like he’s a lot more than that based on this report.

There is more to this report, and we’ll pass along what the Dallas Observer says, as opposed to trying to retype this whole thing. Too much good stuff to leave out:

According to the report and the sources, at 7:30 p.m. on March 21 Aqib Muttaqi Talib went to his sister’s home in the 900 block of Green Pond Drive in Garland (south of Bush Turnpike not far from Spring Creek Elementary and Hawaiian Falls Water Park). Saran, who was arguing with Billings, also called her mother for help. Police were directed to Saran’s home via a 911 call by neighbors, who reported a domestic dispute and three shots fired at a black male by a black female. According to the report, police arrived to find Billings standing in front of a nearby residence. While interviewing him, officers discovered Billings was a suspect in two pending, related, family-violence offenses involving Saran and arrested him.

When initially questioned, both Saran and Okolo Talib said they knew nothing of an earlier incident at the house. Billings, however, led police to a gun he said belonged to Aqib that Billings had thrown in a neighbor’s trash can after escaping his struggle with the player. After finding the weapon and calling forensic investigators to retrieve numerous spent shell casings in the street, officers took a statement from Billings.

According to the report, Billings said Aqib produced a handgun and “attempted to strike him in the face.” During the ensuing skirmish Talib dropped the gun and Billings picked it up and began runnning, prompting Okolo to produce a gun and fire three shots toward him. Billings told police that Talib then took Okolo’s gun, said “I’ll shoot him” and fired at least two shots before Billings safely ducked into nearby woods. Neighborhood witnesses corroborated Billings’ story.

The case is still being investigated, and the Observer says that Talib and his family aren’t cooperating. Shocker.

Last week, an attorney in Florida claimed that New England Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather pulled the trigger of a gun at a party. The problem? It grazed one person and hit another in the head. That’s no good.

But then, a member or two of Meriweather’s family (why would they lie?) said that while Meriweather was at the party, he was not the one who fired the gun. So that’s that, right?

Not exactly. Now, Dino Costa of Sirius Mad Dog Radio cites an “impeccable source” who says that Meriweather was indeed the one who fired the gun. Costa also said that there is now talk that the two victims aren’t exactly alive.

That’s umm….kind of a big deal.

Florio of PFT makes a good point to that part of it. The attorney who originally claimed that Meriweather did it, said at the time that the victims told him they think it was Meriweather. So, unless they were in the hospital and didn’t pull through, we’d have to think that these victims are still amongst the living.

Stay tuned on this one. Let’s see if the Patriots take a safety high up in the draft.

Due to the lack of Fantasy Turd League software and the difficulty of a draft strategy we will be running this league rotisserie style.

What is rotisserie style? There will be no draft for the first season. Your job is to fill a complete roster.  The complete roster and league rules can be viewed here.  This means some teams might have the same players, but it is your job to be creative enough to form a team that you think can outperform everybody else’s team. So, if you have the same players as other teams, that doesn’t give you an edge.

Roster Size/Positions: Each team will have 8 roster spots. The roster you must fill is as follows:

One NFL player

One NBA player

One NHL player

One MLB player

One NFL, NBA, NHL, or MLB sports team (the coach/coaches of this team can collect player points)

Three flex players from an NFL, NBA, NHL, or MLB team

Point System:  The purpose of the league is to accumulate the most points.

Player must be on a sports team roster: The players that a team owner drafts must be currently on a roster of a professional sports team. For example, Plaxico Burress is not currently on any roster; therefore, he can’t be drafted.

Clarification of Article Rule/Point System Rule: If there is any discrepancy or disagreement referring to an article rule or point system rule, the designated league president of the league has the first say.

Adding/Amending an Article Rule/Point System Rule: If any team owner would like to add an article rule or point system rule, they must present it to the designated league president for approval.

Fantasy Turd League Season Length: The season will last exactly one year from the day the draft is completed. Furthermore, the season does not start until the draft is over.

Designated League President: If you haven’t figured out by now, there will be a designated league president appointed by the league. The league president will be responsible for updating YTD points for every team.

Team Owner Responsibility: Ultimately, the team owner is responsible for tracking his players and informing the league president when they score points. However, the league president can update the YTD points without the team owner informing him of the scored points.

The Plaxico Burress Rule Rule: If a player on a team is subject to the Chris Henry Rule, that team owner can add another player to the roster as long as the team owner maintains a complete roster.

The Plaxico Burress Rule Rule Rule: If a player on a team is subject to the Chris Henry Rule, and that team owner has replaced that player by enforcing The Chris Henry Rule Rule, the original player, although not on the roster anymore, can still collect points based on additional charges/jail time stemming from the initial crime/behavior.

The Winner of the League: The owner who collects the most points after one year is the winner and should be recognized as King Turd Owner.

Late Entry Rule: A new team owner may join the league at anytime, but can’t collect past turd points.

Below are the following rules on how to collect points for OTRs Fantasy Turd League.

Ron Artest Rule: A player shall receive 1 point for every game he is suspended up to a maximum of 16 points per suspension. If the player is suspended during the playoffs or the suspension carries over into the playoffs, the same rules apply and 2 bonus points are awarded.

Michael Vick Rule: A player must be in jail for over 24 hours to be eligible for this rule. A player shall receive points based on amount of time served in jail on a 30-day tier up to a maximum of 360 days. The tier is as follows:

24 hours to 30 days = 3 points
30+ days to 60 days = 6 points
60+ days to 90 days = 9 points
90+ days to 120 days = 12 points
120+ days to 150 days = 15 points
150+ days to 180 days = 18 points
180+ days to 210 days = 21 points
210+ days to 240 days = 24 points
240+ days to 270 days = 27 points
270+ days to 300 days = 30 points
300+ days to 330 days = 33 points
330+ days to 360 days = 36 points

Points will be awarded after sentencing, however your player will be awarded the points if he is being held in jail during the trial based on the above tier. If a player is convicted and sentenced for more than one year in prison, they shall receive 10 bonus points, plus be awarded the maximum 36 points. If a player is sentenced but then awarded with an early release, that player shall still receive the points.

Shawn Merriman Rule: If a player tests positive for any type of anabolic steroid or performance enhancing drug, they shall receive points based on what number offense it is. First-time offenders shall receive 2 points. Second-time offenders shall receive 4 points. Third-time (or more) offenders shall receive 8 points.

Josh Howard Rule: If a player is arrested or charged for possession or tests positive for a controlled substance, they shall receive points based on what number offense it is. First-time offenders shall receive 2 points. Second-time offenders shall receive 4 points. Third-time (or more) offenders shall receive 8 points.

Nate Netwon Rule: If a player is arrested or charged for possession with the intent to distribute any type of controlled substance, that player shall receive 10 points, plus points awarded from the Josh Howard Rule.

Tony LaRussa Rule: If a player is arrested or charged for DUI or DWI, they shall receive 5 points. If that player has fallen asleep in their car, that player shall receive 2 bonus points.

Marshawn Lynch Rule: A player shall receive 1 point for every traffic violation. If that traffic violation includes speeding over 100 mph, they shall receive 2 bonus points. If that traffic violation includes charges related to drag racing, that player shall receive 2 bonus points.

Brett Myers Rule: If a player is arrested or charged with assaulting a woman or domestic violence, they shall receive negative 10 points.OTR does not condone (or encourage) this type of behavior, so points will be taken away from your team. OTR believes any man that commits this type of crime is a scumbag. Your team will be awarded for players being turds, not scumbags.

Tank Johnson Rule: If a player is arrested or charged with weapons possession, aggravated assault, or resisting arrest, that player shall receive 5 points for each.

Pacman Jones Rule: If a player is involved with any altercation or arrest stemming from a nightclub or stripclub, that player shall receive 5 points. If said altercation or arrest involves “making it rain,” that player shall receive 10 bonus points.

NBA All-Star Weekend Rule: If a player is arrested or charged for any misdemeanor/felony in Las Vegas, Nevada or during NBA All-Star Weekend, that player shall receive 15 points.

Allen Iverson Rule: If a player on your team has a recognized posse and a member of that posse is arrested or charged with anything related to drugs or weapons, that player shall receive 5 points.  If the incident happens inside a casino, an additional 5 bonus points will be awarded.

Cincinnati Bengals Rule: Each team is allowed to draft one sports team from four of the major sports (hockey, basketball, football, and baseball). If a player or coach from that team is (or would be) awarded points from any Fantasy Turd League rule, that team will be awarded 1 point for that rule.

Stephen Jackson Rule: If a player violates his probation, that player shall receive 2 points.

Bill Romanowski Rule: If a player is fined by the team or league he plays for, that player shall receive points based on the dollar amount of the fine multiplied by .10% up to a maximum of 30 points. This rule also applies to a player getting suspended without pay where the fine equals the loss in salary. This rule does not apply to a player holding out.

Terrell Owens Rule: If a player is suspended for conduct detrimental to the team, that player shall receive 3 points.

Roger Clemens Rule: If a player is suspected or convicted of lying under oath, that player shall receive 5 points.

Plaxico Burress Rule: If a player is kicked off his team for being too much of a turd, that player shall receive 20 points.

Jarkko Ruutu Rule:  If a player decides to bite an opponent, and is suspended for that action, that player shall receive 5 points.  If that player is successful in biting off what they were trying to bite, they shall receive 2 bonus points.  If that player bites someone on his own team and is suspended for that action, that player shall receive 25 bonus points.

Jeff Reed Rule:  If a player is arrested for public intoxication or disorderly conduct, that player shall receive 2 points.  If that player tried beating up a paper towel dispenser or is shirtless (or pantless), that player shall receive 5 bonus points.

Tiger Woods Rule: If a player is caught cheating on his wife, that player shall receive 2 points per woman.  If the marital affair leads to a divorce, that player shall receive 5 bonus points.

Cleveland.com is reporting that Cleveland Browns DT Shaun Rogers has been arrested at Hopkins International Airport in Cleveland. Rogers was boarding a plane when they found a gun in his bag.

Police say that the gun was loaded and we have to wonder how on god’s green earth Rogers thought this was a good idea. One report says that he claims he forgot the gun was in his bag.

Uh huh. We don’t have any more details right now.

Rogers recorded 36 tackles and two sacks in 11 games for the Browns. He broke his leg in Week 12 against the Bengals and was done for the year. It’s not known if the gun is related to the broken leg.

One of University of Central Florida’s highest-profile recruits, Jose Jose, was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed firearm and aggravated assault with a firearm early Friday morning according to Dade County court records.

Jose was a standout lineman at Miami Central High School.  He first committed to Tennessee last summer, but when Lane Kiffin left the program, Jose decided to join UCF on National Signing Day.

Jose is listed as 6-foot-3 and 340 pounds.  He played offensive line in high school, but UCF coach George O’Leary hoped to develop him into a strong defensive tackle.  O’Leary will now have to introduce him to a strong defense attorney.

It’s been riches to rags for Plaxico Burress’ family.  They’ve come a long way since his game-winning Super Bowl catch in 2008.  A long way, but the wrong way.   The former New York Giants wide receiver’s waterfront home in Lighthouse Point, Florida is in foreclosure.

Last August 2009, Burress was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and count of reckless endangerment and was sentenced to two years in prison.  He currently is sitting behind bars not able to make his $2.9 million mortgage payment resulting in a $3.3 million foreclosure lawsuit for a house he bought for $4 million.

At this pace, the 33-year old idiot could be homeless when he is released from prison.

This is absolutely bizarre.  According to the New York Post, Washington Wizard teammates Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton pulled guns on each other during a Christmas Eve gambling dispute.

After Arenas refused to pay up on a gambling debt, Crittenton became irate and shouted at Gilbert, “I’m not your punk.”

In response, Arenas reportedly pulled a gun from his locker, prompting Crittenton to pull a gun from his locker.  Are you kidding me?  Who knew the Washington Wizards had any weapons in their locker room?  They sure don’t on the court.

The Post received this information from Crittenton’s friend, Kendrick “Bookie Ball” Long, who said that Javaris discussed this altercation with him.

Arenas has been cooperating with the D. C. police in an investigation of this matter for the past two weeks.  He has said all along he brought the ‘unloaded’ guns from home and stored them in his locker to keep them away from his children.

In the summer of 2008, Arenas landed a monster, six-year $111 million contract with the Wizards.  Maybe he should stop being a punk and pay up on his gambling debt.

In attempt to distract attention away from Tiger Woods, five armed intruders forced their way into Kobe Bryant’s gated Pelican Ridge neighborhood Tuesday night.

The Los Angeles Times reported Wednesday morning that Newport Beach police were notified of the robbery in the gated Pelican Ridge neighborhood around 10:15 p.m. when someone called 911 from the home’s backyard. Nine people were in the home, and three were attacked by the intruders. One victim was taken to a hospital while the other two were treated on the scene.

Three have been arrested in the robbery, but two other suspects are still at large.

Kobe was excused from practice earlier this morning, but is still expected to play against the Utah Jazz tonight at the Staples Center.

Tiger Woods is not a suspect in the armed robbery.

Three Tennessee freshmen, wide receiver Nu’Keese Richardson and defensive backs Janzen Jackson and Mike Edwards, were arrested and charged early Thursday for attempted arm robbery.

Richardson and Edwards approached a parked vehicle near Tennessee’s campus, one of them strapped with a handgun, and demanded whatever the victims who were in the vehicle had.  Unfortunately, the victims did not have any playing time to give the young-minded fools.

After collecting nothing from the victims, Richardson and Edwards ran off and jumped into a Toyota Prius, their environmentally friendly get-away car, driven by Jackson.

Back on September 17th, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West was pulled over after cutting off a police officer with his motorcycle.  When the officer searched Delonte, he found two loaded handguns and a loaded shotgun.

On Tuesday during his eight-count indictment, it was revealed that a new weapon was found on West during his arrest, an eight-and-a-half-inch Bowie knife.  This information added additional weapons and traffic charges.

The eight-count indictment included two counts of carrying a dangerous weapon, two counts of carrying a handgun, two counts of transporting a handgun, and one each for reckless driving and negligent driving. Each weapons count carries a penalty of up to three years in prison.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Vicente Padilla was accidentally shot by his “escort” on Tuesday at a shooting range in his native Nicaragua.

The story as of today is Padilla’s escort was trying to fix his malfunctioning gun when it went off.  The bullet grazed Vicente’s right thigh and he was taken to a hospital, treated for his injury, and released.  It is still being determined if the “escort” was former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress.

Padilla’s agent Adam Katz said that Padilla is fine and was only at the hospital for 30-40 minutes, about the same amount of time he pitched during Game 5 of the Champion Series a couple weeks ago.

Padilla is expected to file for free agency in the coming weeks.

One of OTR’s favorite NBA players was arrested Thursday after police found a handgun in his pocket, a handgun strapped to his leg and a shotgun in a suitcase he was carrying all while speeding on a motorcycle.  Let me repeat that, after police found a handgun in his pocket, a handgun strapped to his leg and a shotgun in a suitcase he was carrying all while speeding on a motorcycle.

Are you kidding me?  Delonte, what were you thinking?  Just stick to having hot sauce in your bag, not guns in your suitcase.

Prince George’s County police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Reedy said West was riding a Can-Am Spyder motorcycle north on the Capital Beltway in Upper Marlboro when he cut off an officer, who pulled him over.

Wait, going back to that first paragraph, a shotgun in a suitcase?  Who does that?

The 26-year-old West, who lives in Brandywine, was charged with speeding and weapons counts. Reedy said West was released on his own recognizance early Friday.

Why did you need to be holding three guns in Brandywine?

KIDS ALERT:  This kids alert is an update to the story as per request of Lindsey.  Kids, what did Delonte do wrong here?  Never carry a suitcase when you are riding a motorcycle, it is awfully dangerous.  You want both hands on the steering wheel handle bars.  So, if you have a shotgun, get a strap, so you can strap the gun to your back.
