Reds not trading Votto?

There has been a lot of talk (maybe too much talk), that the Cincinnati Reds would or should listen to offers for the 2010 NL MVP, Joey Votto. Votto is signed through 2013 and would be a free agent afterwards. But, GM Walt Jocketty said emphatically that they have not been talking about moving their [...]

Misplayed Hand

Free agency is not over. There are still several players available that can come in and help the Philadelphia Eagles. However, as I sit here on Friday morning, I can’t help but feel the Eagles have misplayed their hand. In poker, you can slow play pocket kings through the entire hand and probably come out [...]

McDermott Is Out

The chips are beginning to fall in Philadelphia.  Defensive Coordinator, Sean McDermott has been let go by the team effectively kick starting some changes on the defensive side of the ball. In his defense… hmm… ok, it’s hard to associate any defense with McDermott. Per Head Coach Andy Reid, McDermott was to return next season [...]

Morrocan goalie celebrates a little early (video)

The good news for this Morrocan goalie is that no one watches Morrocan soccer. Nicknamed “The Throne Cup,” this game is between the two household names, Maghreb Fez and FAR Rabat. Goalie Khalid Askri is pretty proud of himself for stopping the penalty shot. So much so, that he doesn’t really bother to check if [...]

DeSean Jackson carted off field

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson was carted off the practice field today after making a catch. We don’t know the extent of the injury, but some have speculated that it could be a back issue. Supposedly, he limped to the cart which could be good sign. We aren’t sure who will step up to starting [...]

Oswalt leaves game with injured ankle

Houston Astros’ starter Roy Oswalt left Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates with a bum ankle. Pedro Alvarez hit a line drive off of Oswalt’s leg in the second inning. We don’t know how badly he’s hurt, but he did pitch two more innings after getting hit. This is one to monitor. Oswalt is on [...]

Phillies kid chugs a beer (video)

This has been a rough year for Philadelphia sports fans. Their already tarnished reputation only got worse after a little tix for tricks issue, some tasering, and the now infamous projectile vomiting incident. So when this video of a child drinking beer at a baseball game surfaced, it wasn’t hard to beleive it happened in [...]

Roy Halladay throws perfect game

The Flyers and Blackhawks may be battling it out in Chicago, but there was another important game for the City of Brotherly Love tonight. Philadelphia Phillies right-hander Roy Halladay retired 27 batters, earning him a perfect game. Halladay was coming off a rough game against the Red Sox where he gave up seven runs in [...]

Philadelphia Eagles fans rejoice! Your favorite bean counter will be in Philadelphia for another three years. That’s right, the Eagles extended the contract of Joe Banner by three years. In addition, the Eagles promoted Don Smolenski to the role of Chief Operating Officer. Eagles fans won’t give too much of a rat’s petute about the [...]

According to Jason La Canfora of NFL Network, if Julius Peppers doesn’t sign with the Chicago Bears, the New England Patriots will give the Philadelphia Eagles some competition for his services. The big rumor has been that if Peppers didn’t sign in Chicago, he was off to Philadelphia for his next visit. “Pats and Eagles [...]

Dancing with the Stars will help OchoCinco

We still have a tough time calling him OchoCinco. But anyway, we digress. Cincinnati Bengals WR Chad Johnson OchoCinco says that performing on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” will help him prepare for the football season. He also says that if Marvin Lewis didn’t give him his blessing, he wouldn’t have done it. “I was [...]

Flyers make some moves to clear cap space

The Philadelphia Flyers have put goaltender Ray Emery on the long-term injured list and placed winger Riley Cote on waivers. The moves will clear up about $2 million in cap space so that they can hopefully make a move. The Flyers now have $2.8 million space with which to swing a deal. Sources tell the [...]

Pants on the Ground at the playoffs

If you haven’t heard of the “Pants on the Ground” guy from American Idol, you probably live under a rock. General Larry Platt’s audition for the show became the first big viral video of the year. Last week, Viking’s quarterback Brett Favre chanted the song in the locker room after his team beat the Cowboys. [...]

Eagles fans get to Brandon Jacobs

We can’t figure out for the life of us why Philadelphia Eagles fans have such awful reputations. But, truthfully, this is some of their tamer work. They did get to New York Giants RB Brandon Jacobs though. Brandon, you are supposed to ignore it. The worst thing you can do is acknowledge that you can [...]

Newman attacks Campo

Not sure if you watched any of the Cowboys and Redskins game Sunday but TV cameras clearly caught Terence Newman committing minor assault against defensive coordinator Dave Campo. As Newman came off the field they bitched at each and Newman got a couple physical blows in. We expect them both to say it was nothing [...]

Power is out in OTR’s Philly newsroom

Just FYI, OTR will be back up and running shortly. There is a blackout currently in our Philadelphia newsroom and it takes forever to blog from the iPhone. Please be patient. And vigilant. But most of all, patient.

Giants sign Sanchez

The San Francisco Giants have signed Freddy Sanchez, one of their few good hitters, to a two-year contract. As far as you know, Sanchez plays second base. We don’t know how much it’s for or who first reported it. We are blogging from our iPhone and can’t be bothered to find out actual facts. You’ll [...]

We thought we’d post this hastily made Cleveland Tourism video. Maybe Braylon was depressed about his surroundings and lashed out on Edward Givens?

Yankees Win ALCS

Yankees Win! Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Yankees Win! Great game, great series. CC takes the MVP of the ALCS. Surprised he didn’t share it with Alex. And for those of you keeping track, that’s 40 league pennants for the Yanks. Pettitte also won his 16th postseason game, a new record.  Phillies on Wednesday evening – CC vs. CLEE… [...]

Chuck Knoblauch Playing Second Base for Phillies

Originally drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies back in 1986, Chuck Knoblauch has returned to baseball. Knobluach  made another costly error for the Phillies today as the Dodgers evened the series at one a piece.  Philadelphia fans and players alike are both startled and confused now that Knoblauch has officially replaced all-star second baseman Chase Utley [...]

Captain Lou Albano dies

We don’t normally cover pro wrestling in this space, largely because we don’t consider it a real sport. Which it isn’t. But we have to acknowledge the passing of one of the true greats. That’s right, 76-year old Captain Lou Albano has passed away at the tender age of 76. He was 76. The WWE [...]

Chad Henne Leads Dolphins Over Jets

Wolverines!!!  Chad Henne and Braylon Edwards were making their alma mater (and rowdy friends?) proud on Monday night. Henne went 20-26 with two touchdowns and 241 yards.  The former Michigan standout has quite a pedigree, but do the Dolphins finally have a franchise quarterback?  Perhaps, stay tuned.  To be honest, I forgot that Henne was [...]

Phils/Rockies canceled

The Philadelphia Phillies first trip to Colorado ever (not remotely true) will have to wait until tomorrow. Due to frigid temperatures and potential snow, the game will be moved to Monday. Game 3 will be tomorrow night at 10:07 pm EDT. Way to go, MLB. You could have done the intelligent thing and scheduled it [...]

Chicago Eliminated from 2016 Olympics

Chicago was surprisingly eliminated in the first round of voting for the 2016 Olympics. As a result, Chicago can now focus on crime, transportation and not raising Ben’s property taxes. U.S. Olympic Committee leaders declined comment.
